Size
On the back of the forklift is a counterbalance, that enables the lift truck to lift extremely heavy objects. The counterbalance gives balance so that the equipment would not tip over while lifting and moving heavy loads. Forklifts are rated according to their load capacity. A small forklift that could raise 1800 kilograms weighs approximately 4000 kilograms, that is the same as two full-size pickup trucks. The biggest forklifts can have up to 36,000 kilograms of lifting capacity.

Considerations
There are lots of safety concerns included in operating a lift truck. When driving down a ramp, travel in reverse. If the load interferes with vision and is bulky, haul it in reverse. Operators must know how to mount the lift safely using the "three-point stance." This includes placing the right hand on the back of the seat, while gripping the upright of the safety cage using the left hand and placing the left foot on the step. Never jump out of a lift truck even during a tip over. It is really safer to stay inside the confines of the lift. Any slip or fall on a lift truck can result in severe injuries.
